From its humble beginnings operating out of a Darling Point flat, Fred (Robert) Mayer established F. Mayer Imports in 1957, initially importing Norwegian jumpers and ski wear.
Heavy import restrictions at the time limited food imports to just Swiss wafers and Danish & Swiss cheeses. However, when import licenses lifted, the company was able to increase the range of imported food to fuel the demand created by both New Australians and a nation who was quickly acquiring a taste for European delicacies and other specialty foods.
Today the business operates out of eight warehouses located in Mascot, NSW & Kensington, Victoria, importing over 1000 different products from throughout Europe, New Zealand & the Asia Pacific region.
