TV, Film Scripts: NEW!

Since 1990, we've helped over 3000 writers get published. Now, we'll help you with your script for TV or film.

Ted Roberts, Script Doctor

Do you have a script or treatment for film or television? Will your novel, published or unpublished, adapt to the screen?

Often the wide gap between an idea and production seems insurmountable. Even when you have a 'finished' script, the market may seem cool to frigid.

Nobody can teach you to write. Nobody can teach you to write for the screen. But we can all be helped. We can all make use of the experience of others. We can all use (or discard) another's opinion or suggestion. We can all be helped with format, with content, with dramatic or comic exposition.

The greatest films, the best television plays and episodes, are almost always the result of collaboration. Script producers, story editors, researchers, directors and producers almost always have their input before an idea, or a story, becomes a film.

Script assessment

We'll read your script or treatment and talk one-to-one with your about its potential. We'll give you insights into the Australian market potential and direct you in ways you can make your script work: to improve its basic idea perhaps, to make it leap off the page, to make it fulfil the promise of the original story.

Script editing

If you're adapting your own novel, how does its format meld with the format of a film? For example, will you use flashbacks? Will they work? Will your 400 page novel condense to 110 minutes of film? Is it really suited to the film or television medium? And have you formatted it correctly, using the industry standards which are required?
